The work "The Powers of Heads of State in Comparative Law" is an initiative by CEDIS, coordinated by Professor Doctor Armando Marques Guedes, Professor Doctor Sofia Santos, and Master Maria João Carapêto, a Ph.D. candidate at Nova Law. The now-published work translates into a comparative exercise of the powers of heads of state across different national constitutions. The outcome of this exercise is a unique work in its approach, significantly contributing to the development of research that aims to be, as has been CEDIS's approach since its inception, innovative, transformative, and multidisciplinary in nature. More than offering a mere comparative analysis, each of these comparative works provides a historical-political framework underlying both the exercise of powers by the head of each state analyzed and the Constitution that grants them, discussing, whenever possible and with a critical spirit, the differences of what is law in action.
